I have been working hard to collect donations and to buy PPE for underserved areas of LA County. There are still many people without the necessary items to keep them safe and healthy. Places like SNIF, rehab hospitals, children’s homes, day cares and senior centers are still struggling. I am trying to provide medical and nonmedical grade masks, sanitizer, cleaning supplies, snacks and water to those in need. Any and all help is greatly appreciated not just by me but by those that we are helping.
This year Carts for Kids is one of the main projects I am going to dedicate my time and money to. Carts for Kids is a program I am starting that puts Carts full of toys, art supplies, reading materials and games on hospital wards for patients (children) to access and visitors of patients. I want those children to have the same opportunities to play, play together (when permitted), and play with their families during visits. Being sick and in the hospital is not any fun at all. I want to help other children smile, laugh, have fun and help be a part of creating a happy memory even when it seems impossible.
I estimate each cart to cost around $200.00 and I would really like to put together as many as I can before the end of the year. I am still in the planning stages. Please stay tuned for more details!!!!
I feel like this is going to be one of my best projects yet!
(I have completed 4 so far and plan on sending them to the City of Hope in Duarte California.)
Christmas 2019 I was able to provide gifts for 32 children, Turkey Dinners for 4 families, groceries for 9 families, and a live Christmas tree for one family. I did this with the help of my customers, supporters, donors, my community, Girl Scout sisters, Spark of Love, and the stores in my area. This was such an empowering experience for everyone that I want to do this agin in 2020 and I want to get more of my Girl Scouts sisters involved so we can help even more families. We made friends, we helped bring joy and hope, we shed tears, they shed tears, and we made a lasting difference.
This year I am hoping to get my service unit and possibly more of my council involved so Girl Scouts all over can bring joy to families like I did last year.
I want to provide gifts, dinner, and decor for struggling families. I have always had a great Christmas because we have been lucky and I want to help others have what I have.
Introduce the wonderful world of Girl Scout Camp to someone who has never experienced it, is not a Girl Scout yet and who cannot afford to go.
I want to provide the opportunity to experience one of my favorite Girl Scout activities for someone who has never experienced it and expose them to a whole new world.
I want to provide first responders with stuffed animals for children that they encounter during emergency situations. These are times that are often scary For children. I want to help make this experience less traumatic and more comforting by connecting our first responders with the children in their community.
It is time for me to start working on my Bronze Award. The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. I have decided that for my Bronze Award, I want to sew Capes for children that are in the hospital, having surgery and children going to chemo who need a little boost of joy, comfort and love. I want my capes to help children feel like they are Safe, loved and Special, BECAUSE THEY ARE!!!!
Bring awareness to the rapid decline in our bee population. Educate as many people as I can and encourage them to make changes in an effort to increase and save our pollinators.
We need to all work together to reduce bullying. More and more children are being impacted by bullying and it is causing issues for them at school, at home, and inside themselves. We need to work together and pledge to avoid saying things that are hurtful.
I want to help Bring Christmas to a family who otherwise would not have one.
I am still working on the details of this 2019 Christmas project.
